Anand Jayaraman
Technology Executive and Strategist
Anand Jayaraman is currently heading the Enterprise Strategy and Architecture at Freddie Mac. He is responsible for leading the strategy and execution of multi-million dollar technology portfolio supporting 500+ applications and more than 5,000 employees. He also helps define Freddie Mac’s technology innovation strategy focused on Cloud Computing, Security, Data Center Optimization, and Enterprise Collaboration. Jayaraman built the companies first Private and Hybrid Clouds enabling Business and IT to be Agile in delivering solutions to the market.
In previous roles at Freddie Mac, Jayaraman served as Director Engineering leading Platform, Application and Automation Engineering team, and was responsible for creating Self-Aware and Self-Healing systems.
Previously, Jayaraman was Principal at Airline Tariff Publishing Corporation (ATPCO), where he was responsible for the legacy transformation, development and delivery of all products. Jayaraman delivered ATPCO’s first SaaS application and helped define usage and pricing models. He also held various senior positions at Target Corpration, Syntel and Ramco Systems.
Jayaraman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Madras, India, and a Master’s degree in Information Security and Assurance from the George Mason University, Virginia. He also holds various industry recognized certifications in the fields Information Security, Cloud Computing, Enterprise Architecture and Service Management.
Jayaraman strongly believes in giving back to the community. He has been coaching children for the Science Olympiad, and Odyssey of the Mind – a creative thinking program.

Evangelized the adoption of Cloud Computing and implemented a Private Cloud via IaaS and PaaS, cutting down environment provisioning time by 80%, and increasing utilization by an additional 35% and saving over $4MM in licensing costs annually.

Saved over $4.5MM in licensing and operations cost by re-engineering the Corporate Data Warehousing infrastructure and adding efficiency.

Initiated Technology Simplification Program and optimized 1600+ Products and versions to 900+; by consolidating capabilities, removing redundant products and versions. Reducing significantly license and operating cost close to $ 35MM over 3 years.

Institutionalized the Architecture Review Board an oversight body consisting of the CTO, Directors and Senior Architects, responsible for approving new technologies and products for the organization.

Led the adoption of an Information Assurance Program by implementing industry standard best practices and guidelines for Application Security and Secure Application Development based on NIST and OWASP and creating security awareness within all levels of the organization.

Introduced Agile methodologies to speed up software delivery and increase consistency in quality solutions, cutting down development time by 15% and increase operational efficiencies

Reduced the effort spent on software defects from about 20%to a sustained rate of less than 2% by institutionalizing new QA methodology “Keyword Based Testing”, and integrated build and testing.
